The AIB- Africa conference is a meeting point for African scholars in international business, and provides a great opportunity for networking, sharing research ideas and career development. We are passionate about developing young African scholars to mastering research about the continent, and seek to bring together experienced researchers, young faculty and graduate students to brainstorm ideas.
To improve your experience we provide information on how to make the most of the experience, especially if this is your first time.
The AIB-Africa conference involves academic presentation sessions, paper development workshops, and community
- Presentations are made in the order in which they are listed. Though not ideal, participants may move in between sessions.
Venues can be identified using the session numbers as indicated. You are strongly encouraged to bring summary copies of
your paper to the session as a handout. Each presenter would be allowed between 10 – 15 minutes as determined by the
- Interact with experienced researchers, as they provide detailed feedback on your development
- Visit Ghana, and engage with the country’s business environment
The Special Guest of Honour is His Excellency, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and head of Ghana’s Economic Management Team.
He is an economist and banker by training. He served as Deputy Governor of the central Bank of Ghana between 2006 and 2009. Between 2009 and 2010 he was a visiting scholar at the Center for the Study of African Economies, Oxford University. He also served as Resident representative for the African Development Bank in Zimbabwe in 2011-2012.
He was a visiting scholar at the University of British Columbia (Canada), and a Senior Associate Member of St. Antonys College, University of Oxford. Between 2013 and 2015 Dr. Bawumia was visiting professor of Economic Governance at Central University, Ghana. Dr. Bawumia also served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at Hankamer School of Business, Baylor University, Texas, USA (1996- 2000).
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia holds a BSc. Economics (First Class Honours) degree from the University of Buckingham, UK, a Masters degree in Development Economics from Oxford University (Lincoln College) and a PhD in Economics from Simon Fraser University (Canada). He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (U.K) (ACIB) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB), Ghana.
Dr, Bawumia has published several articles in refereed journals and has also published two books on Monetary Policy and Economic Development.”

VISA and Invitation Letters
Conference participants who need visa to travel to Ghana should please apply for one from the nearest Ghana diplomatic posts. Where there is no Ghana diplomatic post in your country, you can obtain a visa at Kotoka International Airport on arrival. If you need a letter of invitation, kindly send an email to Prof Nathaniel Boso on firstname.lastname@example.org and an invitation letter would be prepared for you promptly. Please note that ECOWAS citizens do not need visa to travel to Ghana. For African Union citizens, you can obtain visa upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
