Woxsen University to set up the Valarie Zeithaml Professor of Services Marketing

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Valarie Zeithaml, the Valarie Zeithaml Professor of Services Marketing.

The Chair holder selection is under process.

Valarie Zeithaml is an award-winning teacher and researcher, and an internationally recognized pioneer of services marketing. She devoted the last 35 years to researching, consulting and teaching service quality, services management and customer equity.

Dr. Zeithaml has researched customer expectations in more than 50 industries. She has consulted with service and product companies, including IBM, Kaiser Permanente, GE, John Hancock Financial Services, Aetna, AT&T, Metropolitan Life Insurance, Bank of America, Chase Manhattan Bank, Allstate, and Procter and Gamble.

For her work that is influencing the future direction of marketing, she was named a Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher in the report on “The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds.”

The American Marketing Association (AMA) named her a Marketing Legend in 2016. She was selected for its inaugural cohort of AMA Fellows for her significant contributions to the research, theory and practice of marketing and service to the AMA in 2015.

She won the 2009 AMA Irwin/McGraw-Hill Distinguished Marketing Educator Award for lifetime leadership in marketing education and extensive contributions to the marketing. In 2008, the AMA awarded her with the Paul D. Converse Award, which is granted every four years to individuals who have made outstanding and enduring contributions to marketing through journal articles, books or a body of work. She received the AMA’s Career Contributions to the Services Discipline Award in 2001.

She received both the Innovative Contributor to Marketing Award from the Marketing Management Association and the Outstanding Marketing Educator Award from the Academy of Marketing Science in 2004.

Dr. Zeithaml is the author or co-author of seven books. She and her co-authors won the prestigious inaugural Berry-American Marketing Association Book Prize for their book Driving Customer Equity: How Customer Lifetime Value is Reshaping Corporate Strategy. She is the first author of the best-selling business book Delivering Quality Service: Balancing Customer Perceptions and Expectations, which won the Choice Book Award and is now in its 20th printing. She is also the first author of the Irwin/McGraw-Hill textbook Services Marketing, now in its sixth edition.

She is the former associate dean of the MBA Program, former senior associate dean for academic affairs and former chair of the marketing area at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

She received her PhD and MBA from the University of Maryland, and her BA from Gettysburg College.


Woxsen University to set up the Anuj Mehrotra Professor of Operations Research and Management Sciences

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Anuj Mehrotra, the Anuj Mehrotra Professor of Operations Research and Management Sciences.

Anuj Mehrotra, Ph.D., is the dean of the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). Under Dean Mehrotra’s leadership, GWSB has reimagined graduate business education through its modular and flexible offerings, which feature industry-driven certificates that can be used to create customizable master’s degrees. This innovative design allows the school to proactively respond to the shifting demands of business education. The school has also made changes to its undergraduate offerings by launching new bachelor of science degrees in business analytics and information systems as well as creating a business major for non-business school students. GWSB has also invested in making its programs more accessible through online education. Dean Mehrotra is credited with engaging the alumni and the business communities through innovative programs that focus on student success and lifelong learning. In 2019, alumni giving increased 20 percent and GWSB significantly improved in both national and global rankings while realizing substantial growth in graduate student enrollment.

Prior to coming to GWSB in July 2018, Dr. Mehrotra was at the (now) Miami Herbert Business School where he served as senior vice dean, vice dean for faculty development and research, the Leslie O. Barnes Scholar and professor of management science. He also served as the school’s interim dean, vice dean of graduate business programs and executive education, vice dean for faculty affairs, and chairperson of the Department of Management Science. During Dr. Mehrotra’s tenure as interim dean, the school was successfully re-accredited by AACSB, its graduate degree programs grew in enrollment, and the school’s fundraising grew by 70 percent year-over-year. He led the launch of online and hybrid degree programs that helped realize a 70 percent growth in graduate enrollment over a five-year period. Concurrently, the school’s degree and non-degree programs earned recognition among the best in various rankings.

Dr. Mehrotra’s research interests are in large-scale optimization and interdisciplinary applications. His research has been published in top-tier academic journals, including Management Science, Mathematical Programming, Naval Research Logistics, and the Informs Journal on Computing. He has been invited to present his research at national and international meetings, and he co-edited a book as well as a special issue of Discrete Applied Mathematics on computational methods for graph coloring and its generalizations. He has also co-chaired several conferences on optimization and related application areas. Dr. Mehrotra has worked with more than two dozen Fortune 500 companies, and his previous experience includes visiting positions at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and at the T.J. Watson Research Center.

Dean Mehrotra received his doctoral degree in operations research from the Georgia Institute of Technology, his master’s degree from Virginia Tech, and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India.


Woxsen University to set up the Sherif Kamel Professor of Leadership and Digital Transformation

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Sherif H. Kamel, the Sherif Kamel Professor of Leadership and Digital Transformation 

The Chair holder is Dr. Uma Jaidev, Professor, School of Business, Woxsen University

Kamel is professor of management at The American University in Cairo. Before joining AUC, he served as director of the Regional IT Institute and managed the training department of the Cabinet of Egypt Information and Decision Support Center. He consults with government organizations and corporations, addressing organizational transformation, executive development, IT, management and strategy. He was a guest lecturer, and taught degree and non-degree programs for Middlesex University (United Kingdom), Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University, United States), Maastricht School of Management (Netherlands), Claremont Graduate University (United States), the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania, United States), Carlton University, University of Ottawa and McMaster University (Canada). 

He was invited as a panelist/speaker on a variety of policy issues at IS, management, development and leadership conferences and expert meetings, including Asia-Middle East Dialogue, EBRD, European Foundation for Management Development, ITU UNDP, Internet Governance Forum, World Summit on the Information Society, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Atlantic Council, the German Marshall Fund of the United States, Middle East Institute, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He served as a judge in IT and business plan competitions including IBM Watson Entrepreneurial Project Showcase at the University of Toronto and the Stockholm challenge. He won a number of organizational leadership awards for serving the IT community from Conf-IRM (Canada), Cabinet of Egypt and IRMA (USA).  

Kamel holds a PhD in information systems from London School of Economics and Political Science. In addition, Kamel is an Eisenhower Fellow and a Center for Global Enterprise Fellow. He is a member of the AACSB International Middle East Advisory Council and Eduniversal International Scientific Committee. He was a member of the World Bank Knowledge Advisory Commission and founding member of the Internet Society of Egypt. He was a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (Canada). 


Woxsen University to set up the Dinesh Bhatia Professor of Computer Science & Engineering

We would also like to share that Woxsen University has set another chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, the Dinesh Bhatia Professor of Computer Science & Engineering. 

The Chair holder is Dr. Kiran Ravulakollu, Dean- School of Technology, Woxsen University.

Dinesh Bhatia is a faculty member in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. He directs research activities within the IDEA Lab. 

His research investigations have spanned in the areas of high-performance computing, healthcare & medical devices, and power and energy systems. He has published extensively in the field of Architecture and Computer-Aided Design for Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). He has served on technical program committees of several international conferences related to FPGAs, field-programmable technology, and system-level design using FPGAs. He has experience in building large scale custom computing and embedded systems. These include principal designer and investigator for RACE system for Wright Laboratories of USAF, principal investigator for DARPA funded REACT program, and several more. In the area of power and energy systems, he has primarily worked in the areas related to power converters. Recent research has resulted in breakthrough results and founding of a startup company, Cirasys Corporation. Cirasys has received initial funding from NSF, UT System, and Texas Emerging Technology Fund. In the areas of medical devices and healthcare, he is an architect of several patient monitoring solutions. These telemedicine systems gather a patient’s vital and contextual data using low power wireless solutions. The data is transmitted to electronic health records for storage, analysis, and assisting in decisions for caregivers and healthcare providers. 

He has served on the editorial board of IEEE Transactions on Computers, has served as general chair for International Conference on Body Sensor Networks, and was IEEE Circuits and Systems society’s distinguished lecturer for 2007-2008. He has served on Technical Program committees of several conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE, ACM, Eta Kappa Nu, and the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. 

He is experienced in IP litigation and has participated in technology evaluation for startup and small businesses. 


Woxsen University to set up the Ramon O’Callaghan Professor of Technology Management and Innovation

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Ramon O’Callaghan, the Ramon O’Callaghan Professor of Technology Management and Innovation.

Ramon O’Callaghan is Dean of Porto Business School (PBS), University of Porto. He is also a member of the EPAS and EDAF committees of EFMD in Brussels, the Supervisory Board of ISM in Lithuania, and the International Advisory Council of FDC in Brazil.

He was the founding Dean of the Graduate School of Business at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan (2013-2015), a school set up with the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Earlier, he was professor for 15 years at Tilburg University (1997-2012), in the Netherlands, where he held several senior positions: Dean of the business school (Tias), Associate Dean, Director of MSc programs, and Director of the International Executive MBA, a joint program with Purdue University. Other positions included: Director of Deusto Business School and Vice-Rector, University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain (2006-2009), MBA Director at Nyenrode University, Netherlands (1994-1997); assistant professor at IESE (1989-1993), and researcher at Harvard Business School (1985-1987).

His professional experience also includes executive education, research and consulting projects for European, American and Asian organizations. He coordinated and participated in several projects of the European Commission and has taught in executive programs of IESE, INSEAD, London Business School, MIT Sloan, Purdue University, and Solvay Brussels. Prior to his academic career, he worked several years at Texas Instruments.

His interests include Management of Technology and Innovation. His work has been published in academic journals, books and conference proceedings, e.g. Journal of Marketing, Journal of IT, European Journal of IS, MIT Press, Wiley, ICIS. His recognitions include the best paper award in the Knowledge Management track at the Hawaii International Conference on Information Sciences (HICSS) 2006, and the Best Teaching Case award at the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Milwaukee, 2006.

Prof. O’Callaghan holds the degrees of Doctor of Business Administration from Harvard, MBA from IESE, and MSc and BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Catalunya (UPC). His education also included courses at MIT Sloan and ESCP in Paris.


Woxsen University to set up the Sanjay Bhowmick Professor of Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Sanjay Bhowmick, the Sanjay Bhowmick Professor of Strategy, Entrepreneurship & Sustainability.

Sanjay joined Newcastle Business School in 2012. A Fellow of Higher Education UK, he has been teaching courses in strategy, international business, entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as finance/entrepreneurial finance at NBS and earlier at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Sanjay is an achievement motivation trainer and has used those techniques in conducting several entrepreneurship development programmes with existing and aspiring entrepreneurs. He has raised funds of ÂŁ100,000 p. a. for student start-up businesses. He is a visiting professor at the Foundation for Liberal and Management Education in India.

Before joining academia Sanjay has held senior management positions in bankng, venture capital and consulting, last as County Director for corporate finance in Arthur Andersen in India. Sanjay has also worked on assignments in the US, the UK, and in South East Asia. His experience enables him to bring real life case discussions into the classroom. He has an MSc and an MBA from University of Delhi and a PhD from the triple crown Business School of The University of Auckland, New Zealand.

His research interests lie in firm internationalisation, entrepreneurship, social cause venturing, management of the commons, and strategy. Sanjay has published in and reviewed for international journals and has been a member of international research bodies including the Entrepreneurship Division International Committee of the Academy of Management. He has been a core committee member of the Australian Centre of Entrepreneurship Research Exchange annual conference series for six years and a founding member of Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division International Committee.

Woxsen University to set up the Len Jessup Professor of Leadership and Organizational Change

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Len Jessup, the Len Jessup Professor of Leadership and Organizational Change.

Len Jessup is a visionary leader in higher education, known as a consensus builder with a deep interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. 

He was most recently president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He previously served as the dean of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, and as vice president of university development and president of the Washington State University Foundation. 

Jessup is a professor and scholar of management information systems. His many publications include co-authoring the third edition of Information Systems Today: Managing in the Digital World and “On the Future of the MIS Discipline: MIS as a Critical Strategic Driver,” published in the journal Database. In addition to his academic achievements, he has received numerous awards, including the 2018 CEO Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District VII. 

The first in his family to graduate from college, Jessup was born and raised in Northern California. He holds a doctorate in Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Arizona, Tucson, with a minor in Management Information Systems. He also holds an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Studies, both from California State University, Chico. 


Woxsen University to set up the Mohanbir Sawhney Professor of Digital Marketing

Woxsen University set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Mohanbir Sawhney, the Mohanbir Sawhney Professor of Digital Marketing.

Prof. Sawhney is a globally recognized scholar, teacher, consultant and speaker in business innovation, modern marketing, and Artificial Intelligence applications in business. 

Prof. Sawhney has written seven management books as well as dozens of influential articles in leading academic journals and managerial publications.  His most recent book, The Sentient Enterprise: The Evolution of Business Decision Making, was published in October 2017 and was on the Wall Street Journal bestseller list.  He has also written a book of poetry called Love, Longing and Loneliness in 2014. His research has been published in leading journals like California Management Review, Harvard Business Review, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Management Science, Marketing Science, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is a contributor to Forbes and his articles have been published in Fortune, Financial Times, CIO Magazine and TheHill.com. 

Prof. Sawhney is a pioneer in online executive education. We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Bjorn Espen Eckbo, the Bjorn Espen Eckbo Professor of Corporate Finance.

B. Espen Eckbo is the Tuck Centennial Professor of Finance who studies corporate finance with a particular emphasis on transactions in the market for corporate control (M&As and corporate restructurings), how firms raise capital to fund investments, capital structure choice, and issues in international corporate governance. He joined the Tuck School of Business faculty in 1998. He is a research associate of the European Corporate Governance Institute and is the recipient of the Batterymarch Fellowship and a Honorary Doctorate awarded by the Norwegian School of Economics. Before coming to Tuck, he was a faculty member at the University of British Columbia (1981 through 1996) and at the Stockholm School of Economics (1996-1998). He founded Tuck’s Lindenauer Center for Corporate Governance in 1999, which was renamed the Lindenauer Forum for Governance Research in 2020. He teaches MBA electives on advanced corporate finance and governance, and on corporate takeovers.

The Chair holder is Prof. Dilawar Ahmad Bhat.

David Hirshleifer is Robert G. Kirby Chair in Behavioral Finance, a Fellow and former-President of the American Finance Association, and an associate of the NBER. He served as Executive Editor of the Review of Financial Studies, director of the American and Western Finance Associations, and as an editor at other leading finance, economics, and business journals. His Presidential Address to the American Finance Association advocates an emerging paradigm, social economics and finance, which studies how the social transmission of ideas, information and behavior affects markets. His research has won distinguished awards, and he has been keynote speaker at many conferences internationally.


Woxsen University to set up the Vijay Govindarajan Professor of Strategy and Innovation

Vijay Govindarajan, known as VG, is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on strategy and innovation. VG was the first Professor in Residence and Chief Innovation Consultant at General Electric. He worked with GE’s CEO Jeff Immelt to write “How GE is Disrupting Itself”, the Harvard Business Review (HBR) article that pioneered the concept of reverse innovation–any innovation that is adopted first in the developing world. HBR picked reverse innovation as one of the Great Moments in Management in the Last Century. In the latest Thinkers50 Rankings, he was ranked the #1 Indian Management Thinker.


Woxsen University to set up the Gunther Friedl Professor of Management Accounting

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Friedl, the Gunther Friedl Professor of Management Accounting

The Chair holder is Dr. Ricardo Archbold, Adjunct Professor, Woxsen University.

Gunther Friedl is a professor of business administration and holds the chair for controlling as well as Dean at the TUM School of Management at the Technical University of Munich. His research interests lie in the areas of corporate governance and board remuneration, performance measurement and company and patent valuation.

He studied physics at the Technical University of Munich and business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University. There he received his doctorate in 2000 and his habilitation in 2004. He was then a professor of business administration and holder of the chair for controlling at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz until 2007. Research and teaching stays took him to Stanford University and the Warsaw School of Economics.

Gunther Friedl is the author and co-author of several books on cost accounting and controlling. His research has appeared in the European Journal of Operational Research, OR Spectrum, Research Policy and Schmalenbach Business Review, among others. He has received numerous awards for his work, including the prize for the best textbook from the Association of University Teachers in Business Administration and a number of Best Teaching Awards. His studies on board compensation are regularly profiled in the Handelsblatt, Financial Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, The Huffington Post, ARD and ZDF.


Woxsen University to set up the Thami Ghorfi Professor of Strategic Entrepreneurship and Change Management

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Thami Ghorfi, the Thami Ghorfi Professor of Strategic Entrepreneurship and Change Management

Thami Ghorfi is Dean of ESCA Ecole de Management, a leading African Business School based in Casablanca, Morocco, where he teaches communication strategy and change management.

Thami Ghorfi was appointed in 2011 as an expert member of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE), a constitutional institution of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Through his position as Vice President of the AL AMANA foundation – a leading microfinance organization in the MENA region- Thami Ghorfi is strongly involved in charity and the fight against financial exclusion.

Thami Ghorfi is also a member of the board of:

  • Development and Solidarity Council (CDS), a brain trusts aiming at harmonizing economic development strategies and social cohesion;
  • Sanady Foundation, an NGO whose mission is to fight against school failure and school dropouts, serves youth from under-privileged socio-economic conditions.

James A.F. Stoner is an emeritus professor in the leading people and organizations area at the Gabelli School of Business and holder of Fordham’s James A.F. Stoner Chair in Global Quality Leadership.

Professor Stoner has accumulated many academic laurels. He was named a profesor honorario by the Universidad Catolica Santo Domingo, a distinque profesor by the AsosiaciĂłn Dominica de Profesionales en AdministraciĂłn, and an honorific visiting professor at the Universidad de Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru. Here at Fordham, he is a past recipient of the Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence at the graduate level. He also earned a citation from the Academy of Management for best paper in management education.

Before beginning his academic career, Professor Stoner was a project-development officer for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in the government of Tanganyika, now called Tanzania. He holds a PhD and an MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BS from Antioch College.


Woxsen University to set up the Prasad Padmanabhan Professor of International Finance in honour of Prof. Dr. Prasad Padmanabhan

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Prasad Padmanabhan, the â€śPrasad Padmanabhan Professor of International Finance.

The Chair will be held by Dr. Shilpi Agarwal. Prasad Padmanabhan, Ph.D., joined the Greehey School of Business in 2002. He previously held faculty positions at San Diego State University, Pennsylvania State University, Vanderbilt University, McGill University and Concordia University.

Padmanabhan is dedicated and accomplished in the classroom, specializing in teaching international finance, investments, corporate finance, financial management and international business. He has also offered several seminars to corporate executives and taught in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Jamaica, Trinidad, Mexico, South Africa, India, Vietnam, Mongolia, Ivory Coast and Canada. He has also served as a consultant to the International Finance Corporation (a World Bank Group) in the 1980s. During his tenure at St. Mary’s, he has written several op-ed pieces in the San Antonio Express-News, the San Antonio Business Journal and in the China Daily.

During Summer 2018, Padmanabhan delivered lectures to doctoral students and faculty members at the Indian Institute of Management in Trichy, India; and at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India. Locally, he serves as the faculty adviser to the St. Mary’s University chapter of the global student organization, Enactus. This chapter has won numerous regional and national awards.

A prolific researcher, Padmanabhan has published more than 30 articles in several prominent professional and academic journals including International Business Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, Journal of International Management, Financial Review, Journal of Global Business, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Global Finance Journal, and Financial Analysts Journal. He is also the Global Associate Editor for the Journal of Information Technology Case and Applications Research.


Woxsen University to set up the Amitava Chattopadhyay Professor of Consumer Insights and Innovation

We are proud to announce that Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Amitava Chattopadhyay, the Amitava Chattopadhyay Professor of Consumer Insights and Innovation. The Chair will be held by Dr. Samala Nagaraj.

Amitava Chattopadhyay is a Professor of Marketing, the GlaxoSmithKline Chaired Professor of Corporate Innovation, and Marketing Area Chair at INSEAD. He is an expert on branding, and his research has appeared in leading journals, including the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Marketing, Marketing Science, Management Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Long Range Planning. He has published a book entitled The New Emerging Market Multinationals: Four Strategies for Disrupting Markets and Building Brands.

Professor Chattopadhyay is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Marketing, and is on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, and Long Range Planning. He has been a member of the Board of the Association for Consumer Research and has been the recipient of several awards, including the Robert Ferber Award. He is a Fellow of the Nanyang Centre for Emerging Markets.

Professor Chattopadhyay has developed and taught courses on branding, marketing strategy, communication strategy, consumer behaviour, marketing in emerging economies, and international marketing for MBA and PhD students. He has taught in Executive Education programs in Europe, the Americas, Asia, Australia, and Africa. He is on the advisory boards of several companies and a consultant to multinational firms.

Professor Chattopadhyay holds a PhD from the University of Florida, a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a BSc (Honours) degree from Jadavpur University, India.


Woxsen University to set up the Steven Pinker Professor of Cognitive Psychology in honour of Prof. Dr. Steven Pinker

Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honor of Prof. Dr. Steven Pinker, Harvard University, the â€śSteven Pinker Professor of Cognitive Psychology”.

The Chair will be held by Dr. Raul V. Rodriguez.

Steven Pinker is an experimental psychologist who conducts research in visual cognition, psycholinguistics, and social relations. He grew up in Montreal and earned his BA from McGill and his PhD from Harvard.

Currently Johnstone Professor of Psychology at Harvard, he has also taught at Stanford and MIT. He has won numerous prizes for his research, his teaching, and his books, including The Language Instinct, How the Mind Works, The Blank Slate, The Better Angels of Our Nature, The Sense of Style, and Enlightenment Now

He is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, a Humanist of the Year, a recipient of nine honorary doctorates, and one of Foreign Policy’s “World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals” and Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World Today.” He was Chair of the Usage Panel of the American Heritage Dictionary, and writes frequently for the New York Times, the Guardian, and other publications. 

His twelfth book, published in 2021, is called Rationality: What It Is, Why It Seems Scarce, Why It Matters.


Woxsen University to set up the Hamid Bouchikhi Professor of Managerial Innovation

Hamid Bouchikhi is the Moroccan-born former Dean of SolBridge International School of Business, South Korea and previously founder and director of the Entrepreneurship Centre at ESSEC Business School, France.

He is currently a professor of management and entrepreneurship at ESSEC Business School, France.

His research interests are in managerial innovation, entrepreneurship, and organization theory. He also works as a consultant to management teams on strategy, organization design, innovation, and change management.


Woxsen University to set up the Jean-Christophe Hauguel Professor of Economics, in honour of Prof. Dr. Jean-Christophe Hauguel

Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honour of in honour of Prof. Dr. Jean-Christophe Hauguel, the Jean-Christophe Hauguel Professor of Economics.

Jean-Christophe HAUGUEL is a Doctor in Economics from the University of Rouen. He also holds a DEA in “Money, Banking, Finance” from the University of Paris I PanthĂ©on-Sorbonne and a certificate in “Management & Leadership in Education” from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

After having taught in several establishments (NEOMA, ESCE, INSA, CESI, UniLaSalle, IAE Caen, Le Havre University, University of Rouen), he joined EM Normandie in 2005 as a full-time professor in economics. He was then successively responsible for the Master 2 of the Grande Ecole Program, Deputy Director of Programs and, from 2008, Deputy General Manager and Director of Programs. Supervise all of the School’s programs (Grande Ecole Program, Bachelor, MS, MSc), International Development, competitions, Student Life, Continuing Education, IPER and the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship ( IN THE INTERIOR). As of September 2019, he becomes Director General of ISC Paris.


Woxsen University to set up the Zita Zoltay Paprika Professor of Decision Sciences & Business Economics, in honour of Prof. Dr. Zita Zoltay Paprika

Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honour of in honour of Prof. Dr. Zita Zoltay Paprika, the Zita Zoltay Paprika, Professor of Decision Sciences & Business Economics.

Zita Zoltay Paprika graduated from the Karl Marx University of Budapest in 1981 and received her university doctorate degree from the same institution in 1983. She was working at the Bureau for Systems Analysis of the State Committee for Technical Development as an analyst till 1987. She joined the Business Economics Department of the Budapest University of Economic Sciences in 1988.

She got her Ph.D. in Business Administration in 1999. In 2000 she was appointed as the Director for International Affairs at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration. Her main fields of interest are Decision Sciences and Business Economics. Dr. Zoltay Paprika was involved in different international and national projects during which activity she was project manager on several occasions. She was also acting as the USAID auditor in project evaluations. In 2005-2006 she got a Fulbright Research Scholarship and spent an academic year at California State University Sacramento.

She has been the Chair of the Department of Decision Sciences from 2005 to 2020 and was appointed as the Program Director of the International Study Programs at the Faculty of Business Administration, Corvinus University of Budapest from 2007 to 2014. From January 1st, 2014 to January 31st, 2020 she was the Dean of the Corvinus Business School at Corvinus University of Budapest.

During this period Corvinus Business School achieved EQUIS and AACSB accreditations. From February 1st, 2020 until 15 October she was appointed as Vice President of International Relations and Accreditations at Corvinus University of Budapest. She served at the EFMD Programme Accreditation Board from 2016 to 2022. She is the member of the International Advisory Board of ESSCA School of Management and Burgundy School of Business in France. Since 2021 she has been a member in CEIBS – Chinese European International Business School – International Advisory Board. Woxsen University to set up the Dominique Turpin Professor of Brand Management & Communications Strategy, in honour of Prof. Dr. Dominique Turpin

Woxsen University has now set the chair professorship in honour of Prof. Dr. Dominique Turpin, Dominique Turpin Professor of Brand Management & Communications Strategy.

Dominique Turpin is currently the Dentsu Chaired Professor of Marketing and the Dean of External Relations at IMD, International Institute for Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland.

He has served as IMD President and Nestlé Professor from July 2010 until the end of 2016. He was also previously the director of the IMD MBA (Master of Business Administration) and PED (Program for Executive Development).

Professor Turpin has directed customized programs for companies such as Groupe SEB, Panasonic and Japan Tobacco International. He has extensive teaching, consulting and research experience in the areas of marketing and international strategy both in Europe and in Asia, particularly in the area of brand management, customer orientation and communications strategy.

He has worked as a consultant and management educator with a large number of international companies including: Coca Cola, CPW, Danone, DSM, Jardine Matheson, Nestlé, Novo Nordisk, Philips and Uponor. He also served as a board member for ITOCHU Europe, a leading Japanese trading company and the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne. Dominique Turpin has widespread executive seminar and consulting experience for clients in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

His current research focuses on brand management, and he has been widely published in more than 100 books, articles and case studies including the Financial Times, European Business Forum and MIT Sloan Management Review. He has also been listed among the Case Center’s top-40 best-selling case authors for 2018/19 and 2015/16.

He has been a regular contributor to the Nihon Sangyo Shimbun (The Japan Industrial Journal), one of the leading business dailies in Japan. Professor Turpin is also the Continental European editor for the Long Range Planning Journal, the international journal of strategic management and an editorial advisor for the Singapore Management Review.

Prior to joining IMD, he spent several years in Tokyo as a representative of a French firm in Japan. He served as Visiting Professor at the Keio Graduate School of Business Administration, Japan. Since 1994, Professor Turpin serves as the IMD representative on the Academic Council of the China-Europe International Business School in Shanghai (People’s Republic of China).

Dominique Turpin received his master’s degree from ESSCA in France. He earned a doctorate in economics from Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.

The School of Arts and Design, Woxsen University, has now set the chair professorship Margaret L. Bishop Professor of Strategic Design and Management, an interdisciplinary design-management chair in honor of the versatile long-standing professional, Margaret Bishop, who has perfectly blended the best of both fields during her career.

Margaret L Bishop is a seasoned industry professional with first-hand experience, and expertise in supply chain management, business strategy and development, textiles and apparel, and global trade. She has lived in 11 countries and worked in more than 60. Margaret has completed four marathons; she is passionate about travel and current affairs.

Woxsen University has granted Dr. Subhendu Patnaik with the honour of holding the professorship in tribute to Prof. Dr. Sir Cary Cooper, CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire)

Dr. Patnaik will hold, henceforth, the Cary Cooper Professor of Organizational Psychology.

Professor Sir Cary Cooper, CBE, is the 50th Anniversary Professor of Organizational Psychology and Health at the ALLIANCE Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK (2015-today), previously he was Pro Vice Chancellor and Distinguished Professor of Organizational Psychology and Health at Lancaster University (2003-2015). He is the immediate Past President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, President of Institute of Welfare and past Chair of the Academy of Social Sciences, past President of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the British Academy of Management.  

Sir Carry Cooper

He is the author/editor of over 250 books, over 450 scholarly articles and a regular contributor to radio and TV. He was knighted by the Queen in 2014 for his contribution to the social sciences.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Management (14 volumes), Editor of Who’s Who in Management, Editor of the Wiley-Blackwell WELLBEING volumes (six), Founding Editor of the Journal of Organizational Behavior, Founding and Former  Chair of the UK government think tank The Sunningdale Institute and lead scientist on the UK Government Office for Science Foresight project on Mental Capital and Wellbeing, and was Chair of the Global Agenda Council  on Chronic Diseases and Mental Health of the World Economic Forum. He has also worked closely with the European Commission, the European Council, the European Central Bank and the UN’s World Health Organisation and ILO in the health and wellbeing arena. 

Over a number of years, he was voted by HR Magazine as the Most Influential HR Thinker and was elected to the HR Hall of Fame. He is an Honorary Fellow of the British Psychological Society, Royal College of Physicians, The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (Occupational Medicine) and many more; and has Honorary Doctorates from a number of universities (eg Sheffield, Bath, Aston, Heriot Watt, Middlesex, Wolverhampton, Chester and Bolton).

Woxsen University announces the establishment of the Ingmar Nolte Professor of Financial Econometrics in honor to Prof. Dr. Ingmar Nolte. The selection process for the chair holder is undergoing.

Prof. Dr. Nolte holds a Dr. rer. pol. (Economics), University of Konstanz, Germany, (summa cum laude) and a MSc Mathematical Finance, University of Konstanz, Germany, (with distinction).

He is a Full Professor of Finance and Econometrics, Lancaster University Management School, Lancaster University.

His research interests lie in the area of financial econometrics, market microstructure and forecasting. He is interested in high frequency finance & econometrics and the modelling of multivariate trading and volatility processes. Prof. Dr. Nolte is currently working on developing micro-econometric techniques (discrete choice, count data, point process models) for the analysis of complex finance relationships, which involves researching the econometrics of such models for time-series and panel setups.

These models are applied to gain a better understanding of the disaggregated trading process, which involves understanding the behavior of individual market participants such as traders, brokers, and analysts.

Woxsen University sets Chair Professorship as tribute to Prof. Dr. Jean-Luc Boulnois, for his professional journey

The School of Business, Woxsen University, has set a Chair to honor Prof. Dr. Jean-Luc Boulnois contributions to academia and industry. The Chair Professorship will be established as Jean-Luc Boulnois Professor of Entrepreneurship and the selection process for the chair holder is currently ongoing.

Dr. Boulnois is President and CEO of Quadrature, a Boston-based strategic advisory firm for MedTech companies with a focus on early-stage and mid-market enterprises.

From 2005 to 2016, Dr. Boulnois was Chairman and CEO, and in 2013 Executive Chairman, of Microline Surgical, Inc., a Boston company that designs, manufactures, and markets worldwide reposable minimally invasive electro-surgical instruments used in various surgical specialties; in 2009 he led the acquisition of Starion Instruments, an energy delivery company. Dr. Boulnois has been involved with Microline for over 20 years, first as an angel investor, and, over 11 years as CEO strongly focused on operations, expanding sales to more than 60 countries, and driving a period of revenue and profit growth exceeding 14% year-on-year.

In 2004, he served as Venture Partner at Dover Medical Ventures, a Boston-based venture fund in creation dedicated to financing seed and early-stage medical device enterprises.

From 1999 to 2004, Dr. Boulnois served as Executive Director of New Technology at Arrow International: as part of the Global Business Development Group he lead the technology and market assessment team engaging in more than 35 company diligences resulting in 2 strategic acquisitions. 

From 1995 to 1999, Dr. Boulnois was co-developer, President and CEO of Sometec, an innovative international company in the non-invasive ultrasound-based cardiovascular monitoring space sold at a 10X revenue multiple to a leading publicly listed US critical care company.  

From 1989 to 1994, he was President and COO of Technomed International Inc., an international urology company specializing in non-invasive ultrasound and laser technologies: he achieved a 60% growth over 2 years, obtaining several major FDA approvals. He also participated in the Initial Public Offering of Technomed International on the Paris, France, “Second Marché” Exchange. 

During the prior nine years, Dr. Boulnois held various positions at Quantel SA, a French company where he developed scientific and medical lasers, first as staff scientist and later as Vice-President of Research. He also was a Director of Quantel International, the California parent company.

Dr. Boulnois served 4 years on the Princeton University Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department Advisory Council and until 2016 he also was Senior Advisor to Metalmark Capital, a Private Equity firm.

As an experienced Board Director currently serving on several US and European boards such as FineHeart, BioModex, and NanoDx, three Venture Capital financed companies, Dr. Boulnois advises entrepreneurial teams on operations, strategy, capital raising, product development, and regulatory affairs. He is also a Trustee of the French Cultural Center, a Boston non-profit organization.

Since 2000 Dr. Boulnois has also been an Adjunct Professor at the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship at Babson College, MA, teaching several courses in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial finance, and business models, as well as regularly lecturing at the Babson School of Executive Education.

Dr. Boulnois is co-author of 6 books and more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles in laser sciences, applied physics, and biophysics, published in leading journals with one article having more than 670 citations. His educational achievements include: Aeronautical Engineering Degree, Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Automobiles et des Constructions Aéronautiques, France; M.Sc., Centre d’Etudes Supérieures de Mécanique, Paris University; Visiting Professor, HEC and ESCP, France; EMBA, HEC Paris, France; and Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University.

Dr. Boulnois is bi-national American and French, and has lived for 37 years in the United States.

The School of Business, Woxsen University, has set a Chair to honor Dr. Carlos Scheel’s contributions to academia. Dr. P. Swami Sairam, Chair – Centre for Management Research, Woxsen University, has been honored with holding the professorship in tribute to Prof. Dr. Carlos Scheel

Dr. Sairam will hold, henceforth, the Carlos Scheel Professor of Circular Economy and Sustainable Innovation, with a strong focus on management-oriented technological innovations.

Prof. Dr. Scheel holds a Doctor of Engineering (PhD) in Optimal Control Systems

(University of Houston, USA) and a Master of Engineering (MSc) in Computing, Control and Communications Engineering (University of Michigan, USA).

Prof. Dr. Carlos Scheel

He has been a professor at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, Mexico, since 1973. As an expert in innovation, technology, and sustainability strategies, Dr. Scheel’s research, development, and teaching focuses on the areas of dynamics of complex systems, technological innovation, cluster strategies, innovation, creation of unusual business models, technology-based entrepreneurship, distributed systems and information technologies, concepts on which he has taught short courses and specialized seminars in more than 30 institutions in 16 countries.

Since 2007 he has designed and validated in several countries the SWIT model (Sustainable Wealth creation based on Innovation and Technology) for the creation of sustainable regional wealth at three levels of empowerment: zero waste circular chains (ZRIES); development of circular value ecosystems (CVES); creation of regional shared value systems (SVS) and the development of conditions and infrastructure for Innovacities.

Throughout his career, Dr. Scheel has been an advisor on international technical cooperation for various governments. He has participated in more than 20 international projects for the development of strategies, systems, and policies, for the implementation of industrial clusters; as well as science and technology innovation programs, related to regional innovation systems, which include transfer, technological cooperation and technology-based entrepreneurship. These projects have been sponsored by different organizations such as the IDB, UNIDO, USAID, World Bank, UNDP, UNEP, EU Framework Program, and/or national governments.

Dr. Scheel is a member of the National System of Researchers, since 2007 level I, and since 1989 a senior researcher at the Innovation, Creativity and Capital Institute (IC2) of the University of Texas at Austin (USA). Previously, he was Director of the Graduate School of Information Technologies, Electronics and Telecommunications at TecnolĂłgico de Monterrey (1985-2001).

The endowed chair/professorship holder is expected to continue outstanding scholarly activity. This may include scholarship in discovery, integration, application, or teaching. Evaluation criteria include impact and contribution to the holder’s department, the profession, and society at large.

The endowed chair/professorship holder is expected to provide leadership and impact, on an ongoing basis and in the broadest sense possible, throughout his or her term as an endowed chair/professorship holder.
