Logistics for Africa

A GBSN Led Pan-African Logistics Education Hub in coordination with Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.
Goal: To build a virtual logistics hub for Africa, centered on African Business Schools but contributed to by all GBSN members with expertise in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

To achieve this by building a hub model of excellence which delivers:

• Practice Based Education in Logistics combining the expertise of participating business schools
• Theme-based labs led by different schools to advance research in specifically needed areas of Logistics
• A Doctoral Training infrastructure to support the next generation of researchers and educators specialised in solving Logistics needs within an African context

Currently Seeking Business School & Faculty Partners for Phase 1: Logistics Education for Africa

Phase 1: Logistics Education for Africa

Bringing business schools across Africa together to support each other in resolving real world problems with sustained and measurable societal impact.

Building communities of highly skilled logistics and transport professionals to meet the needs of health logistics, agro-logistics and other vital sectors across Africa.

• A flexible, accessible and highly relevant postgraduate program designed to meet the needs of Africa
• Addressing logistics, supply chain and transport challenges facing African economies
• Designed and co-created with African partners and sponsors.
• Coordinated by Edinburgh Business School (EBS) based on their expertise and global capability as a provider of online education.

Phase 2: Research & Doctoral Development

Supporting a Virtual Network of Labs based on specific themes within the field of logistics relevant to stepping up to real world challenges in Africa.

• Led by identified member business schools but with participating researchers from any member based on their research focus 
• Supporting development of next generation researchers through support of Doctoral research linked to the focus of the labs
• Informing the development of further specialist courses for the postgraduate program developed under Phase 1 of the initiative
