Emma Sygiel

Network Operations Manager

Emma joined the Global Business School Network (GBSN) in 2019 as an Events and Communications Intern while completing her undergraduate studies at The George Washington University. In 2020, she assumed the role of Network Coordinator, working closely with GBSN member institutions and global partners to design and support programs that foster engagement across the network. In 2024, she was promoted to Network Operations Manager, where she currently oversees the coordination and execution of key initiatives that advance the organization’s mission and strengthen its international community.

Prior to joining GBSN, Emma served on the Special Events team at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where she contributed to the planning and execution of major events, including the Annual Kennedy Center Gala and the Washington National Opera Gala. In her hometown of Holland, Michigan, she worked with Lakeshore Advantage, a regional economic development organization, supporting local business initiatives and the launch of a $2 million capital campaign.

While at The George Washington University, Emma was actively involved in community service through the Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service. She contributed to numerous nonprofit initiatives, including Reading Partners, We Are Family, and Charlie’s Place. In recognition of her service, she received the Gold Presidential Service Award in both 2019 and 2020 for completing more than 240 hours of volunteer work each academic year.

Emma earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services and Social Justice from The George Washington University in 2020.
