Euphemia Godspower-Akpomiemie

My Name is Euphemia Godspower-Akpomiemie, I hold a Ph.D. in Finance. I am senior lecturer and the programme director of Masters of Management in Finance and Investment (MMFI) at the Wits Business School of University of the Witwatersrand. With over a decade of postgraduate teaching, curriculum development/delivery, and thesis supervision, I currently lecture across three postgraduate programs;the Master of Management in Finance and Investment (MMFI), Master of Management in Digital Business (MMDB), and the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA). I had also served as a sessional lecturer at Independent Institute of Education, Monash South Africa (IIEMSA), where I lectured Corporate Governance, and Financial Sustainability. My research agenda focuses on financial regulation, fintech, and digital transformation in emerging markets. I have published in respected journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance and the Review of Development Finance, and contributed to book chapters with Routledge. My work is underpinned by a consistent focus on regulatory efficiency, financial market development, and banking sector resilience. These themes are central to both the theoretical and applied concerns in the academic decline and research. Prios to joining academic space, I was in the banking industry, where I specialised on forex transactions with the United Bank for Africa (UBA). In the meantime, I enjoy what she do, which is lecturing in the digital finance space, especially in this digital era. At Wits Business School, I teach, and have taught several modules, including Banking Operations, Financial Risk Management, Digital Financial Services, and Digital Business using both in-person and online modalities. My contributions also extend to supervising and examining master’s and PhD theses, serving as a panellist for proposal defenses, and contributing to academic program development. I have also participated in the Early Career Academic Development (ECAD) program and serve on the school’s Teaching and Learning Committee, postgraduate school committee;demonstrating my commitment to continuous academic service and professional development.
