Emma Martens

Manager, Network Operations

Emma joined GBSN as an events and communications intern in 2019 while studying at The George Washington University. In 2020, Emma stepped in to the role of Network Coordinator, working closely with GBSN member institutions and partners across globe to design and support programs and activities that engage the membership base and the broader network.

Before coming to GBSN, Emma worked on the Special Events team at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where she worked on a wide variety of events including the Annual KC Gala and the Washington National Opera Gala. In her hometown of Holland, Michigan Emma worked with the non-profit Lakeshore Advantage providing resources to encourage economic development in the region and helping to kick off their $2 million Capital Campaign.

While studying at The George Washington University in Washington D.C., she served with many non-profit organizations through George Washington’s Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service including Reading Partners, We Are Family, and Charlie’s Place. In 2019 & 2020, Emma was awarded the Gold Presidential Service award for completing over 240 hours in the academic year.

Emma graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelors in Human Services and Social Justice in 2020.
