GBSN Beyond

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, GBSN is reinventing its Annual Conference for 2020.

Instead of a two-day face-to-face event in Miami, it will involve a set of three parallel experiences culminating in a virtual event, November 9-13. The parallel track experiences are designed to engage Students, Faculty, and Administrators at institutions of higher learning and partner organizations in the weeks leading up to November 9th. The culminating event will bring these groups together through a program including short keynote addresses, presentations, workshops, and social activities.

COVID-19 has created great stress, constraints, and uncertainty. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to plan for our flagship face-to-face event. Relative to the in-person event originally planned, GBSN Beyond is designed to achieve two major objectives:

Move the Needle on Our Mission

Create a platform to accelerate development of new programs for improving management education for the developing world.

Be More Inclusive

Involve more schools and more people, especially those underrepresented at global Management events.

GBSN Beyond will convene global leaders in academia, government, and industry to collectively explore the critical role of business and entrepreneurship education in our global future. Participants will look ahead and consider our futures Beyond the ClassroomBeyond Graduation, and Beyond the Administration of our schools by sharing ideas and opportunities for generating greater global impact, especially in the most rapidly growing and developing areas of the world.

GBSN is partnering with Capsim for a faculty engagement lab experience. Simulation creation involves the award-winning CapsimInbox program, helping faculty participants bring their research and cases to life. CapsimInbox encourages participants to utilize regionally and culturally relevant research and cases to develop scenarios focused on soft skills, cross-cultural management, and critical Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues etc.GBSN, in partnership with Hanken School of Economics’ Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Research Institute (HUMLOG), presents students with a meaningful, solutions focused team competition.  Undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students from around the globe have the opportunity to solve problems in their regions and communities related to medical or food sourcing and delivery issues. The Leadership Track will engage business school leaders with rich dialogues considering several important areas of development for business schools and our network. These take the form of roundtable discussions from which reports will be developed, and discussed during the culminating GBSN Beyond Virtual Experience. This series is designed to create value for participants by sharing ideas while working together towards recommendations.

VIRTUAL EVENT

The culminating online event will bring all three groups together through a program including short keynote addresses, presentations, development workshops, and social activities scheduled November 9-13, 2020. To ensure our members and partners around the world have opportunities to interact and ask questions, sessions will be scheduled to maximize participation across a wide array of time zones.
