Deniz Besik

Dr. Deniz Besik is an Assistant Professor of Analytics and Operations at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business. She holds a Ph.D. in Management Science from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Sabanci University in Turkey.  Dr. Besik’s multidisciplinary research focuses on supply chains in the food industry. She studies perishable food supply chains, with a focus on food quality, the impacts of trade and policy instruments to and sustainability in agricultural supply chains. She has papers published in such journals as the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Cleaner Production, and Transportation E. Her research agenda has been recognized with the 2019 Isenberg Outstanding Doctoral Student Researcher Award. She was selected as one of the recipients of the Honorable Mention Award for the 2019 Bayer Women in Operations Research Scholarship presented by the INFORMS Analytics Society.
