Dr. Carla Pereira is a Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at The Open University Business School (Faculty of Business and Law, Department for People and Organisations) in Milton Keynes, UK. She joined the university in February 2022. She holds a PhD in Production Engineering from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar, Brazil), including an academic exchange at Cranfield University’s School of Management in the UK. Dr. Pereira’s research focuses on operations and supply chain management, with particular emphasis on risk, resilience, and technologies that can help organisations and supply chains to navigate today’s polycrisis world. From 2016 to 2021, she coordinated the research group Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisa em Supply Chain at UDESC. She is a board member of the SupplyChain4.0 (©SupplyChain4) and an active member of the Intelligent Operations and Resilient Supply Chain research cluster (Intelligent Operations and Resilient Supply Chains | The Open University Business School). She is also engaged in funded research collaborations with UFSCar, Polytechnique Montreal, the Polytechnic University of Bari, and Queen’s University Belfast. Dr. Pereira has published in leading journals, including the International Journal of Production Economics, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Waste Management. Her research has been cited in the UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Latin America policies. She is also the author of the book Achieving Resilience in Service Supply Chains: The Role of Procurement (Palgrave Macmillan).
