Dr. Gachanja is a PhD holder in Entrepreneurship with a keen interest in innovation performance. He holds Masters of Business Management (Entrepreneurship), Masters of Business Administration (Finance option) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and Bachelor of Education (Arts); Business Studies and Economics from the University of Nairobi. He is a lecturer in the School of Business and Economics in Mount Kenya University. He also consults for Strathmore University in the Enterprise Development Center and Strathmore Research and Consultancy Center Limited.
He is a polished trainer, researcher, certified ISO 2015 auditor, assessor and verifier of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Competence Based Education and Training Curriculum (CBET) and management consultant with over twenty years of experience in academia and the industry.
He previously worked for Kenya Women Finance Trust Deposit, taking Micro Finance for over eight years in different capacities, the last one being the Regional manager in charge of Nairobi North having rose from a business development officer. During this time, he was involved in public mobilizing, training, funding entrepreneurs in the informal sector, (micro and small enterprises) capacity building for staff and clients, business development services, monitoring and evaluation.
Dr. Gachanja have made several scholarly presentations at National and International academia and industry conferences where the work presented have been peer reviewed and published.
He was involved in the development of National Occupation Standards and CBET for TVET Curriculum Development and Certification council as a team leader for industry experts as well as development of learning guide and learning program. He is in the process of writing two books.
