Rebecca L. Bellinger is executive director of the Center for Global Business, a Center of Excellence at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business that is funded in part by a Title VI grant from the U.S. Department of Education known as CIBER (Center for International Business Education and Research). As head of the department, she oversees the School’s strategic international and government agency partnerships, CIBER grant activities, student global programs both on campus and abroad, internationalization in the curriculum, faculty internationalization programs, and new global initiatives. She co-leads the biennial CIBER Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) Program in Cuba. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Association of International Business Education and Research and was appointed in 2018 by Secretary Wilbur Ross to serve a four-year term on the Maryland-D.C. District Export Council. She previously served on the Executive Board of the Global Business School Network (GBSN). She holds the NASBITE International credential of Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP).
Rebecca is a founding member of the Leadership Forum on Global Business Education. She is an active member of several other professional associations including NAFSA (Association of International Educators), NASBITE International, and the Association of International Education Administrators. Previous senior leadership positions include University Director of International Programs and Services at Pace University and Director of International Programs at the School of International Service, American University.
In 2016, Rebecca led the Smith School to become the first academic partner of the Maryland Department of Commerce MAPIT (Maryland Partners in International Trade) program and created the Maryland Export Consulting Program to support the export mission of MD businesses and create exchanges between companies and students. She also developed the first Export Management Bootcamp, a training program for industry professionals, to support the export mission of the state. She is currently spearheading an initiative to map the export assistance resources in the region with the MD-DC District Export Council, U.S. Export Assistance Center Baltimore, and the Maryland Department of Commerce.
