Rimawan is Head of Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of York, UK. His research interests are in Economics of Crime, Applied Game Theory and Experimental Economics. His current studies investigate the mental map of judges and prosecutors of corruption cases, updating the 5th waves of database of corruption (2001-2019), and the sentencing options of the corruption cases.
His previous projects include investigation on the effects of a deposit insurance scheme on moral hazard behaviours among banks (with Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation), the effects of redenomination (with Central Bank of Indonesia), householdās preferences regarding the fuel subsidy elimination in Indonesia (with EEPSEA and IDRC Canada). Rimawan had been a resource person for National Movement for Preservation of Natural Resources, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) during 2015- 2016. He had been a resource person for Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (Task Force 115) during 2016-2019. Since March 2020 Rimawan has initiated humanitarian movement SONJO (Sambatan Jogja) with more than 2000 members and 24 WhatsApp groups.
