Soromidayo George is the Director Corporate Affairs & Sustainable Business, Unilever, West Africa, and the Chairman of the UN Global Compact Local Network in Nigeria. She has extensive experience in sustainable business and development, corporate social responsibility, corporate communications, external relations, and policy advocacy. She has proven track record of spearheading innovative initiatives within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Sector (FMCG), non-profit organizations and developing strategies to reposition companies to maintain growth within a sustainable development framework. She has prior working experience in sectors cutting across banking and non-profit organizations.
‘Soromidayo is the co-founder of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance Institute. In 2016, she set up the Heart of Ruth Fund now the Heart of Ruth Charity Foundation, to help rehabilitate women and children who are abused, or economically and domestically disadvantaged.
‘Soromidayo is a Member of the WIMBIZ Executive Council; a member of AIESEC Nigeria, Board of Advisors; a member of the Advisory Board of the Commonwealth Women Business Network and a Fellow of the WIMBOARD Institute, a WIMBIZ/IE University, Madrid Executive Education Programme for Women on Boards. She was an adjunct member of faculty at the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University, and is currently a Vice-Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria Export Group (MANEG).
She is a DBA (Social Impact) candidate at the Walden University. She has a Master’s and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos and a Master’s Degree in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. ‘Soromidayo has certificates from several institutions including the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria, South Africa), Harvard Business School; Center for Corporate Citizenship, Boston Carrol School of Management and the Copenhagen School of Business. She facilitates courses on CSR, sustainability, stakeholder management and communications. She has written, and published a poetry book, and articles & reports on Poverty, Corporate Social Responsibility, Sustainable Development, Stakeholder engagements, Social & Environmental reports and various guidelines and strategy documents for a number of projects locally.
