Wits Business School, University of Witwatersrand
My name is Takunda Victor Chivizhe, a PhD candidate at the Wits Business School, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. My doctoral thesis focuses on the adoption of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on online retail marketing performance in emerging markets, specifically South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria. I applied for the GSERM Scholarship from a GBSN Member School, seeking to enhance my research skills and global academic network.
The GSERM Scholarship has profoundly impacted my academic and professional journey. As one of the ten recipients from Africa, the opportunity to attend the program at the University of St. Gallen provided me with advanced training in empirical research methods. This experience significantly bolstered my quantitative and qualitative research skills, equipping me with the tools to conduct rigorous academic research. Moreover, interacting with scholars and peers from diverse backgrounds enriched my perspectives and broadened my understanding of global research practices.
Personally, receiving the GSERM Scholarship signifies a milestone in my educational pursuit. It has reinforced my commitment to academic excellence and empowered me to contribute meaningfully to my field of study. The scholarship has not only accelerated my progress towards completing my PhD but has also inspired me to aim higher in my future career aspirations.
