Wits Business School Makes the Case Centre’s Best-Selling List

Every year, the UK-based business case distributor, the Case Centre, publishes a list of its most popular business cases, based on sales. Wits Business School is proud that one of its cases, written in 2018, has emerged as one of the most frequently ordered cases of 2021.

The case, titled The South African Budget 2018 – Walking a Fiscal Tightrope, has proved to be a sought-after case study for business schools around the world.

Wits Business School was one of the first schools in Africa to establish its own case-writing facility in the early 1990s, which it modeled on the Harvard case method. It has since produced over 300 case studies – most of which focus on South African and African businesses and leaders.

β€œOur case studies are not only used by WBS for classroom teaching, but by other business schools in South Africa and other parts of the world. There is a growing need for quality teaching cases which are relevant to emerging economies and teachers often look to WBS for our case collection,” says Claire Beswick, Manager of the Case Centre at WBS.β€œ

We are thrilled to have made the best-seller list for 2021. Congratulations to Prof Eric Schaling and Jacklynne Hobbs who wrote the case.”An updated version of the case – The South African Budget 2019 – Hard Choices in Tough Times? – is also available from both the Case Centre and WBS.
