October 4-6 2023, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland

We all know how important the link between business schools and the corporate world is for management education. As a result, we want to make this conference a one-of-a-kind forum for discussion and networking among L&D experts from both the supplier and client sides.

Engage with the authors of the EiP – Excellence in Practice award winners in intimate discussion corners, share overall sector trends in interactive panels with learning professionals, and network at the EiP Award Ceremony dinner.

This event attracts a diverse range of learning professionals from corporations and L&D providers such as business schools, executive development centers, and executive education consultancies.

“The landscape of learning & development is evolving so fast, it’s good to reflect with peers and world leading business schools on what we are contributing. EFMD facilitates that in an excellent way and provokes in using the collective brain of corporate learning & executive education. Learning and development is the most powerful way forward to contribute in a sustainable future for organisations and the individual.” – Renate Deken, Randstad, NL

Stanford Seed Inspire Speaking Series: Energy Access

Wednesday, 12 April 2023, 10:00 AM PT | 5:00 PM GMT | 7:00 PM CAT

Africa currently has 600 million people without access to electricity. While there are many ongoing efforts to bridge this electrification gap, many have run into challenges of scale and profitability.

During this talk we’ll explore the challenges of energy access in Africa, and the trade-offs of the different technologies currently being deployed – when are mini-grids best suited to connect communities vs solar home systems? Is it possible for electrification technologies to be profitable without some form of public subsidy? What is the cost of electricity for these systems?

Join Stanford Seed and the Stanford Africa Business Club for a thought-provoking discussion with our panel of experts on the topic of Energy Access in Africa.

School of Business and AI Research Centre, Woxsen University, Hyderabad, India in collaboration with the University of St. Thomas, MN, USA is organizing the 3rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Knowledge Processing – AIKP’23 (Scopus Indexed Conference) from 6th to 8th October 2023.

Aim & Scope of the Conference:

Artificial Intelligence & Knowledge Processing is playing a vital role in changing most of the sectors’ processes and landscape. AI has an enormous impact on various automation industries and their functioning converting traditional industries to AI-based factories. New algorithms are changing the way business processes and results are analyzed and predicted. Knowledge processing is the act of comprehending and then representing human knowledge in data structures; semantic models, which are conceptual diagrams of data as they relate to the real world; and heuristics, which are principles that lead to answers to every AI challenge. The way how a human think, knowledge processing transforms the data into knowledge and makes the machine think like a human and makes better decisions. This makes the humans work simple, but it has some ethical concerns that need to be sorted out. This AI and knowledge processing conference addresses the drawbacks and challenges in current practices in various sectors. The research area includes Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Decision Support Systems, Knowledge representation, semantics, Bigdata analytics, Intelligent systems, fuzzy-based neural networks, and other fields.

Investments are needed for economic growth, and Africa needs that growth, fast. The Africa Finance Corporation estimates that the continent needs investments worth US $2.3 trillion to meet its population needs. In 2021 total funding (investments and debt) was just over US $4 billion.

How do we turn this tide? How can African entrepreneurs and the continent attract sustainable private capital? How do we frame and manage the perceived risk of investing in Africa? What investment models will drive growth and how can we develop them?

Join Stanford Seed and the Stanford Africa Business Club for an exciting discussion with our panel of experts on the topic of Investing in Africa.

Woxsen University – India’s Academic Support Partner at the Tech4Democracy Venture Day Delhi 2023

Tech4Democracy Venture Day Delhi

Woxsen University is pleased to announce that it will be the Indian Support Partner at the upcoming Tech4Democracy Venture Day Delhi 2023, organised by IE University, and ORF. The event will take place on March 2nd, 2023, in New Delhi, India, and will bring together entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers, and academics to discuss the intersection of technology and democracy and its impact on the future.

“We are delighted to be a support partner at the Tech4Democracy Venture Day Delhi 2023”, said Dr. Raul V. Rodriguez, Vice President, Woxsen University. “Our focus on entrepreneurship and innovation aligns perfectly with the goals of the event, and we believe that our participation will also be a relevant factor for the event.”

The Initiative

Tech4Democracy consists of two interdependent and mutually reinforcing pillars:

  • Global Entrepreneurship Challenge to identify entrepreneurs developing innovative digital technologies that contribute to the advancement of democracy around the globe. The Challenge is composed of five Venture Day competitions in five continents: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, North America, and South America. Entrepreneurs will be evaluated based on their contribution to democratic values, technological innovation, viability/scalability and interest for potential investors, and the experience, knowledge, skills, and diversity of their teams.
  • A long-term line of applied research that will map the state of the art of the field of democracy-affirming technologies and guide policymakers, industry leaders, investors and entrepreneurs who wish to advance technological progress in a manner that promotes freedom, equality, solidarity and inclusion.

Areas of Innovation

We seek startups/scaleups that develop usable democracy-affirming technologies such as the following:

Data for Policymaking

  • Technologies that allow for better data collection, processing, and visualization, in order to inform policy-making and decision-making processes in a way that is respectful of privacy and individual rights.

Responsible AI and Machine Learning

  • Automated decision-making systems that provide equal opportunity, do not discriminate, and are fair, explainable, auditable, ethical, and accurate.

Tools to Fight Disinformation

  • Technologies that support fact-checking efforts, identify bot activity or work on social data to promote accurate information on key matters, including electoral processes.

Digital Identity and Trust

  • Transparency technologies and identity recognition or protection technologies that ensure inclusive access to digital public services and protection of sensible data.

Transparent and Inclusive Government Data

  • Technologies that promote accountability and inclusive services and foster economic growth through the provision of data, services, and resources that startups, scaleups, and SMEs can leverage to generate business.

Woxsen University & Rhodes Business School |GRLI Courageous Conversation

Woxsen University & Rhodes Business School in association with GRLI will be organising the “GRLI Courageous Conversation”, a platform to discussed the “untouchable” topics concerning the Global South.

For decades, the various challenges emcompasing schools and varsities at different points of the planet have set a paradigm shift.

Universities in developed countries face a variety of challenges, including maintaining their competitiveness in a globalized economy, adapting to rapidly changing technology, and addressing the rising cost of higher education. These challenges often involve finding new sources of funding and implementing innovative teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.

Additionally, developed countries universities also face the challenge of ensuring that their graduates are prepared for the workforce and can compete in a global marketplace.

In contrast, universities in developing countries often face different and more pressing challenges, such as inadequate funding, a lack of trained faculty, and poor infrastructure. These universities may also struggle to attract and retain students, as many lack the resources and opportunities available at universities in developed countries. To address these challenges, universities in developing countries may focus on strengthening partnerships with other institutions, leveraging technology to improve access to education, and investing in faculty development programs. Additionally, they may also have to work with government to lobby for more funding, policy change and regulations that can help improve their situation.

Hence, a conversation around these matters may settle (or open) new arenas of exploration within the management and higher education segment holistically.
