Woxsen University successfully hosted the inaugural Apprise Initiative, a day-long event that championed gender parity and empowered women in leadership roles. The event brought together prominent figures from government, academia, and industry to foster dialogue, empowerment, and cross-cultural exchange. This initiative embodies Woxsen’s idea of Internationalisation by spirit, promoting global collaboration through a deeper understanding of India-Malta relations. A dedicated segment explored opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth between the two nations, strengthening Woxsen’s commitment to its core value of Internationalisation.
The presence of distinguished guests like Dr. Joseph Muscat, Former Prime Minister of Malta, Ms. Helke Carvalho Hernandes, Vice President of EFMD Global, H.E. Mr. Reuben Gauci, High Commissioner of Malta to India, and Dr. Jikyeong Kang, President and Dean of the Asian Institute of Management, further solidified this commitment. The Apprise Initiative aligns perfectly with Woxsen University’s core values, including Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability (ERS) and Internationalisation.
The event aimed to foster societal impact through activities that enhance ethical behaviour, community engagement, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, it aimed to create a culture that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, reflecting Woxsen’s dedication to its ERS values.The event commenced with an inaugural speech by Dr. Kakoli Sen, Dean of Woxsen School of Business. This was followed by insightful addresses from dignitaries like H.E. Mr. Gauci and Dr. Kang.A stimulating panel discussion titled “Navigating Gender Bias in the Workplace: Overcoming Challenges and Seizing Opportunities” featured Ms. Prajkta Malve, Dr. Ramadevi, and Group Captain Asha Jyothirmai, moderated by Mr. Chahat Mishra. The panellists shared their valuable perspectives on tackling gender bias and creating a more inclusive work environment.
The afternoon session featured a fireside chat with Dr. Joseph Muscat, hosted by Mr. Chahat Mishra. This was followed by another insightful panel discussion titled “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Building Supportive Ecosystems for Success,” featuring successful women entrepreneurs like Ms. Shipra Bhutada, Ms. Anamika Sarma Iyer, and Dr. Chandrika Parmar. The event concluded with a heart-warming showcase of Project Hunar, an initiative empowering underprivileged individuals. This project, aligned with Woxsen’s ERS values, equips participants with vocational skills to navigate the workforce.
Special invitees of the day were the young participants of Project Hunar, boys from a nearby Madarsa Arabia Tahfeez Ul Quran- Sadasivpet, trained by the Centre of Excellence – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. The Apprise Initiative served as a powerful platform for promoting gender equality and fostering a culture of women’s leadership.
