Thomas Dyllick

Professor Dyllick was at the University of St. Gallen between 1974 and 2019. First, as a student, graduating with Ph.D. in 1982, then as a Professor in Sustainability Management and Managing Director of the Institute for Economy and the Environment (IWÖ-HSG), which he co-founded in 1992. From 2001-2003 he was Dean of the Management Department, and from 2003-2011 he was University Vice-President in charge of teaching and quality development. His responsibilities included all accreditations and rankings/ratings.

Since October 2019, Thomas has co-run The Institute for Business Sustainability located in Lucerne, Switzerland. He develops and guides transformative projects in areas like Positive Impact Rating for Business Schools (PIR). For the first time students worldwide assess their business schools on their positive impact.

The PIR was created by concerned business school experts together with global NGOs – WWF, Oxfam, UN Global Compact – and international student associations. The 2021 Edition of the PIR saw 9000 students from 47 schools located in four continents and 21 countries participate in the survey.
