The project SEED – Entrepreneurship and Innovation Awareness, promoted by the Department of Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Companies of the Lisbon City Council (CML), has as one of its objectives the promotion of financial literacy sessions in schools for students in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education. As part of this project, on the days November 10th, 17th, 23rd, 24th, and 27th, and December 5th, the CML accompanied students from classes in different Lisbon schools to Iscte.
The meeting arose from the challenge thrown by the CML to the Iscte Business School, as well as to Lisbon schools, to encourage their students to promote this type of awareness-raising activities.
The meeting arose from the challenge thrown by the CML to the Iscte Business School, as well as to Lisbon schools, to encourage their students to promote this type of awareness-raising activities.
For this activity, the school had the support of the group of students ITIC – Iscte Trading & Investment Club, particularly the students Bárbara Conde, Bruna Cunha, Daniel Ramos, Guilherme Costa, and Vicente Jardim, along with Professors Ana Simaens and Luciana Barbosa who embraced this project and engaged the Iscte Business School community. As a token of appreciation for the dedication and effort of this team of students, they received an invitation to participate in Web Summit 2023, one of the largest technology events in Europe organized in partnership with the CML.
Each class has two sessions, with the first sessions focusing on family budget and savings. In addition, students from municipal schools in Lisbon had the opportunity to learn more about the campus and the opportunities that the Iscte Business School has to offer. The second sessions are focused on the different types of investments, characterized by risk, volatility and return factors.
More sessions are yet to come throughout this school year, a result of this impactful partnership between the Iscte Business School and the Lisbon City Council on the journey to promote financial literacy among the youth of Lisbon.
