Spring Internship Reflections

I served as GBSN’s Network Engagement Intern this spring. As an International Relations Bachelor’s of Arts student at American University, I am extremely grateful for my time spent at GBSN working with such a passionate group of people.

Having a strong interest in international development and the non-profit sector as well as an appreciation for higher education, GBSN provided me with a holistic hands-on experience in the field.

During my internship, I was able to work closely with Fabienne, the Executive Director, on programing logistics and network engagement strategy.

While interning with GBSN we organized the Learning By Doing Summit in Peru and as well as the Teaching Entrepreneurship Summit in Morocco. This provided me with the opportunity work directly with the staff on conference logistics and event planning which further developed my personal organization and event management skills.

This internship was unique in that I was able to sit in on meetings with staff and work closely with the entire office on a range of projects that spanned far beyond the daily tasks. I cannot stress enough on the positive learning experience I gained while working at GBSN. The most rewarding part of my experience was getting to know the staff who continuously provided me with the support and advice I needed to excel in this position and beyond.
