Are you a creative person looking to use your talents to influence the corporate world? Are you someone who likes to come up with unique ideas, work with their hands or maybe just thinks differently? Sometimes it can feel like it’s impossible to connect your passion or hobby with your full-time job.

In this session, Aid Murad talks about how she tied her skills in the business world with her passion and interests in the creative industry. She’ll dive into details about how she turned her hobby into a full-time business, about the challenges that come from creating art for fun and doing so for income and the advice she wishes someone had given her when she was starting out.

Discover more about Aida Murad, the self-taught Arab-American entrepreneur based in NYC. Learn about her mission to help people feel seen, heard and loved through art, and why it matters.

This is a LIVE session which means you’ll have the unique chance to ask questions and get answers directly from Aida.

About Aida Murad:

Aida Murad is a self-taught Arab-American NYC based Spiritual Artist whose mission is to help people feel seen, heard and loved through art. She paints with her fingers due to a past trauma. It took her a long time to embrace the ‘Artist’ label but now she knows this is who she is. She became an Artist because she had Rheumatoid Arthritis. They say the darker the shadow the brighter the light. Her Rheumatoid Arthritis was her shadow. Her art is her light and serves as a light for others. When she was 20 years old, she was diagnosed with her shadow and, subsequently, semi paralyzed for 4.5 years. She was bed bound. When she was in a place of suffering, she turned to art to help her heal. However, she didn’t paint with paint brushes, she painted only with her hands to demonstrate to herself and to the world that she is not damaged, and this dysmorphia will not define her.

In every setting we learn to follow different behaviors. The way we act when we are in a library is not the way we act when we are in an arcade. The way we speak to our friends is not typically the way we speak to the elderly. Interviewing, as other areas in life also has it’s own set of rules and social norms.

In this workshop you will learn the key principles and guidelines to a successful interview. You will learn to present yourself in a professional manner while being true to who you are. You will also learn what behaviors you should monitor and how to leave a good impression on a recruiter during your interview.

In an interview, small and simple things like showing up on time, dressing professionally, speaking clearly and being polite can all leave a positive experience with your potential employer. On the other hand there are specific principles, whether in person or online, that will leave your interviewer concerned or uninterested.

In this career development workshop, career coach-in-residence Iyad Uakoub will help you:

  • Learn best practices for virtual interviews
  • Learn the do’s and don’ts of interviewing, in person and online
  • Build a checklist and discover tips and tricks to prepare for your interview
  • Exhibit your professionalism even before you’ve got your first job
