width=ESADE Business School in Spain and the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce have partnered together with Lingnan University College at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China to provide students a truly international experience.

UVA’s new Master of Science in Global Commerce program is a year-long program that focuses on teaching students how to conduct business across different cultures. The program is divided into three segments. Students spend their first 15 weeks in the U.S. at the UVA McIntire School of Commerce, the next 9 weeks in China at the Lingnan University College at Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou and the final 15 weeks in Spain at the ESADE School of Business in Barcelona. During each segment students not only complete coursework at the respective universities, but also are given the opportunity to travel to various cities within each country to meet with companies and government organizations.

Upon completion of the program students earn a M.S. in Global Commerce and a M.S. in Global Strategic Management from the UVA Darden McIntire School of Commerce and ESADE Business School, respectively, and receive a certificate in international management from Lingnan University College at Sun Yat-sen University.

The program sets a new standard for the method of training students who plan to pursue business, whether international or not. Travelling to the multiple countries and cities throughout the program stimulates adaptability and trains students how to conduct business in other cultures.

The program honored its first graduating class on June 16, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. The first graduating class was comprised of 58 students from 14 countries, many of which have already secured jobs after graduation.
