The GBSN family would like to welcome Emma Martens as our new Network Engagement Coordinator. As a Network Engagement Coordinator, Emma will be working closely with GBSN member institutions and partners across the globe to design and support programs and activities that engage the membership base and the broader network.

Prior to accepting the role as Network Engagement Coordinator, Emma served as GBSN’s Communications and Events Intern. Before coming to GBSN, Emma worked on the Special Events team at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts where she worked on a wide variety of events including the Annual KC Gala and the Washington National Opera Gala. In her hometown of Holland, Michigan Emma worked with the non-profit Lakeshore Advantage providing resources to encourage economic development in the region and helping to kick off their $2 million Capital Campaign.

Over the past four years in Washington D.C., she has served with many non-profit organizations through George Washington’s Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service including Reading Partners, We Are Family, and Charlie’s Place. In 2019 and 2020, Emma was awarded the Gold Presidential Service award for completing over 240 hours in the academic year.

Emma recently graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelors in Human Services and Social Justice and a Minor is Spanish and Latin American Languages, Literatures and Cultures. As Network Engagement Coordinator, she is eager to help members contribute to and leverage our network to make a difference. We are very excited to see all that Emma does as Network Engagement Coordinator!
