Network Engagement

IIMU aspires to take its place among world-class management schools creating global knowledge. Certainly, the Institute will be at the forefront of knowledge dissemination, with the highest quality teaching to deliver the programs. But IIMU places equal emphasis on research and knowledge creation and has attracted young and accomplished faculty whose curiosity and skill will spearhead this objective. IIMU is committed to nurturing leaders and entrepreneurs who will power their organizations in emerging economies. At the same time, the Institute remains deeply rooted in the region and the nation. An underlying priority is to instill in the students a sense of commitment as managers to have a socially responsible impact and to expand their intellectual horizons so they emerge transformed and prepared to carve their place in the world of business and in society at large

An integral component of IIMU’s mission is to create a culture that inspires entrepreneurship and innovation. IIMU provides students with the freedom and institutional support they need to explore their entrepreneurial ambitions. This is reflected in all aspects of our programs: in-depth orientation to entrepreneurship on day one; an inspiring range of elective courses; intensive mentoring during the program and beyond; flexible placement options for students choosing to pursue an entrepreneurial venture; assistance in procuring seed funding and equity capital.

Institutional contributions to the network platform in the first year

In the first year of the membership, IIMU aims to learn from the network and understand the best practices being implemented by global institutions with respect to academics and research.

Institutional engagements with fellow GBSN member institutions

IIMU hopes to engage with fellow GBSN member institutions by looking for collaborative research opportunities for the faculty and doctoral students. IIMU also hopes to share insights from the learnings of its newly launched one year MBA program in digital enterprise management.

The biggest challenge facing management in your community and how the institution addresses this challenge.

The biggest challenge management education faces in India is the lack of focus on research. Unfortunately, in India, there is an imminent need of a strong research ecosystem, unlike the US. IIMU is committed to bridge this gap and establish itself as a leader in management research in India that builds theory and inspires practice. The research encompasses both theoretical scholarships that will be of significance to the field in question and also research that will be relevant and useful to practitioners, policy-makers, NGOs and other users.

“Since inception, IIMU has been focussed on building a globally recognized management institution. This membership is an important step in that direction. We look forward to being part of the rich network of GBSN and learning from the fellow members.” – Prof. Janat Shah, Director
