The underlying theory of the training is action regulation theory. Action regulation theory states that actions, also entrepreneurial actions, consist of action sequences including the phases of goal setting, information search, planning and execution, and monitoring and feedback. Workshops Focused on Teaching and Research

Access to Virtual Event Sessions

Core Experience: Faculty Simulation Lab

In the theme of “Beyond,” GBSN and Capsim are partnering to bring faculty an interactive and creative experience that takes knowledge Beyond the Classroom. As participants, you will have the opportunity to form teams and utilize your own research, case studies, experiences, and more to develop your own 45-60 minute CapsimInbox scenario, where students are tested on skills of your choosing. In our virtual global environment, now is the time to bring regional and culturally relevant experiences to life.

CapsimInbox is a microsimulation platform that simulates an email environment where learners face real-world scenarios. As faculty member participants, you are to take current data, research, cases, etc., that you would like to see in CapsimInbox simulation format and provide that information in the application concept. We are looking for creative and innovative geographic locations, cultures, scenarios, and skill sets not usually found in typical curricula. The winning faculty team will be offered a cash prize, along with recognition as a CapsimInbox author and royalty rights. This opportunity allows for portfolio expansion beyond the normal written studies and a personal touch in the new wave of virtual experiential learning.

Faculty simulation sign-up will be open August 15th to September 30th at 10:00 PM Eastern Time.

Workshops & Webinars

Workshop: Case Teaching Online

This session would seek to build, and expand on the case writing capabilities of faculty. It would be aimed at people who had recently started writing cases, were considering writing cases, or experienced case writers looking for innovative ideas and fresh inspiration. We would need to cap the numbers for this session at 50 to ensure that we could maintain an interactive approach to the session and to truly build capacity. The workshop will aim to cover the following: the essential elements of a good case, how to plan and begin writing your case, sources of inspiration, and common pitfalls to avoid, how long should your case should be?, the common features of bestselling cases – what is the secret of their success? , the importance of the case teaching note.

Workshop: Teaching with Simulations

This workshop is hosted by SPJIMR, with content support of Harvard Business Publishing to help instructors gain an understanding in an approach to using simulations (sims) in their courses. Simulations are powerful tools for reinforcing student learning, set in seemingly real-world environments. They are simple to set up and extremely user friendly as teaching tools in classrooms and can be used across courses. The design of this workshop is aimed at instructors with some interest in sims and an experience of innovations in class. The workshop seeks to familiarize the participants with the techniques needed to integrate SIMs within a course, and equip them with the necessary skills. There is no pre work for this workshop in which a HBP sim will be used. The course pack link will be distributed for enrollment and access to the sim.
