GBSN Welcome’s 7 New Member Schools

The Global Business School Network is proud to welcome seven new member schools: Peking University HSBC Business School in Shenzhen, the University of Macau in Zhuhai, IE Business School in Spain, Ashesi University in Ghana, Cornivus Business School as its first member school in Hungary, NUCB Business School, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business as its first member in Japan, and the University of Rwanda College of Business and Economics as its first member school in Rwanda. The network now consists of 105 member schools in 49 countries.

GBSN’s Member Schools are the foundation of our network model. While the mission is what drives GBSN as a network, the things we do to achieve it are also designed to bring value to our members. Within the context of the emerging economies mission, GBSN builds activities and programs that enable the creation of new knowledge, provide meaningful experiences, and build relationships that can transform management education, as well as provide broad visibility to our member schools as a champion and change maker for economic and social development. All of these activities will introduce new opportunities for our member school’s leaders, faculty, and students, as well as help achieve a worthy objective. GBSN looks forward to working with all of its new member schools and helping them to achieve their goals through engagement with the network.

Peking University HSBC Business School

 width=Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) was founded in 2004 with the intent to advance PKU’s involvement in the global economics, finance, and management research. Located in Shenzhen, PHBS brings Peking University’s historical presence and first-tier business education programs to the country’s south and benefits from the dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit of the thriving city. As an additional advantage, the proximity to Hong Kong, a world financial hub, provides unmatched opportunities for the entire campus community. PHBS currently offers a doctoral program, specialized Master’s programs, an MBA program, an Executive MBA program, and numerous executive development programs. To provide in-depth Chinese educational experiences with a global perspective, the School admits international students into the specialized Master’s and MBA programs. PHBS is accredited for EPAS by EFMD and has also been accredited by AACSB in 2018. With internationalization as its goal, PHBS has taken a bold step by opening a new campus in Oxfordshire, England. Students admitted to the cross-border programs spend the first year of their master’s degrees at the PHBS UK Campus, and their second year at the PHBS Shenzhen Campus in China, alongside Chinese peers and in an environment of cross-cultural dialogue.

As the most internationalized China-national business school, Peking University HSBC Business School offers 130 English-language, graduate level, business courses per year. Currently we offer three Master degrees in Finance, Management and Economics as well as an MBA Program for international students that are entirely conducted in English. Over 70 international and Chinese faculty conduct courses using English and have earned their PhDs from top institutions in the USA and Europe. All students, 95% Chinese nationals, are fluent in English and will be your classmates. Students can take advantage of our highly internationalized campus in Shenzhen, China, located adjacent to the international financial hub of Hong Kong.

University of Macau

 width=Founded in 1981, the University of Macau (UM) is the only internationalized public comprehensive university in Macao, with a modern governance model. 80 per cent of its faculty members are from outside Macao. With English as the main medium of instruction, the university is committed to producing creative and socially responsible graduates with a global mindset and international competitiveness. The university constantly expands its international network and actively builds new platforms for international collaboration in order to broaden the students’ horizons. It has established collaboration agreements with more than 230 institutions of higher learning in over 30 countries and regions. UM students can choose from over 150 institutions around the world for exchange programmes or overseas studies. The university also provides students with many internship opportunities, both local and overseas, in order to enhance their employability upon graduation.

The university maintains close contact with universities in Portuguese-speaking countries and has launched dual degree programmes and joint postdoctoral training programmes with many top universities in the world. UM has an outstanding team of faculty members, many of whom have earned prestigious titles such as member of Academia Europaea (Academy of Europe), fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, member of the Portuguese Academy of Sciences, fellow of the American Society for Metals, fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, fellow of the American Physical Society, fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, fellow of the American Educational Research Association, president of the IEEE’s Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, and Chang Jiang Scholar Chair Professor (Ministry of Education). Adopting a problem-oriented approach, UM devotes its resources to research areas that reflect the university’s strengths. At the same time, it actively establishes world-class research platforms to promote interdisciplinary research, especially collaboration between liberal arts fields and science fields, in order to gain a leadership status and an international reputation in these fields. UM also encourages entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer in order to enhance the social impact of its research.

IE Business School

Its programs and teaching methodology are at the forefront of integrating technology with education. Ashesi University

 width=Educating Ethical, Entrepreneurial Leaders in Africa

Ashesi mission is to propel an African renaissance by educating ethical, entrepreneurial leaders. Located in Ghana, this private, non-profit university combines a rigorous multidisciplinary core with degree programs in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, and Engineering. A student-led honour code, integrated community service, diverse internships, and real-world projects prepare students to develop innovative solutions for the challenges facing their individual communities, countries and the continent at large.

Ashesi is now recognized as one of the finest universities in Africa, with a proven track record in fostering ethical leadership, critical thinking, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to solve complex problems. And in 2018, the President of Ghana granted Ashesi a Charter to operate as a fully autonomous institution; no longer to be supervised by a public university under Ghana’s accreditation system. Ashesi is the youngest university to have achieved such recognition, and one of five private universities in Ghana to have a Charter.

Cornivus Business School

 width=Corvinus Business School (CBS) is the centre for education and research in business, financial management, management and organization, management sciences and management practice. Its vision is to be a leading business school internationally recognised for excellence in education and research. Our mission is to educate responsible business leaders who work based on sustainable business practices and have a global outlook. CBS aims to advance knowledge to promote the progress of global business and society. With over 200 professors and over 8000 students Ð CBS is the biggest of the university’s 3 Faculties. It is acknowledged to be the most prominent centre for education and research in financial management, management and organization, marketing, business, information management, business ethics, environmental management and management practice in Hungary.

The high quality of education offered by the Faculty is acknowledged worldwide and is reflected in the Faculty’s international partners as well as in its memberships in select organizations. Corvinus Business School is a member of CEMS (the Global Alliance in Management Education) PIM, EDAMBA, EFMD and CEEMAN and is the only institution in Hungary to have been awarded EPAS accreditation by the European Foundation for Management Development for 2 of its English-taught programs. The Faculty has recently initiated the AACSB accreditation. For international students studying in its bachelor and master programs taught in English and the large number of incoming international exchange students, the Faculty offers a wide range of course portfolio in English and German involving most of the departments and covering all the specializations of the Faculty. With over 400 international students from close 50 countries each semester, the Faculty, in addition to the high quality of education, can also offers its students the added value of an international atmosphere.

NUCB Business School, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business

 width=Nagoya University of Commerce & Business (NUCB), is a Japanese private university located in Nisshin, Aichi within the Tokai region of Japan. Originally established in 1935, NUCB was the first undergraduate institution in Japan and one of only 5% of schools worldwide to achieve the much sought after AACSB accreditation. Its main campus, Nisshin Nagakute, is set in the Nisshin countryside just outside of Nagoya City where it houses almost 3,000 students and over 100 faculty. NUCB is the only university in Japan to offer a BBA degree taught 100% in English. It also has a downtown campus located within walking distance from Nagoya station where we teach solely using the Case Method.

NUCB’s mission is to create leaders rather than followers, to nurture young persons who think creatively and independently and to impart to students the skills and qualities that they will need to become pioneers in the future. In order to train business leaders and entrepreneurs who can contribute to the business world of tomorrow, NUCB offers an advanced education and research environment throughout our educational institutes. The university selects entrants who have the ability to excel in an active learning environment.

University of Rwanda College of Business and Economics

 width=The College of Business and Economics (CEE) is one of the six colleges composing the University of Rwanda, a Rwandan public high learning institution, established by law NO 71/2013 of 10fO9/2O3 and determining its mission, powers, organization and functioning. CBE proudly boasts of four main campuses which include Gikondo, Huye, Nyagatare and Rusizi. CBE is therefore delighted that as a specialized institution in business, economics, Tourism and Hospitality realms is contributing substantially to the establishment of a critical mass of professionals that will steer the country and develop its own highly skilled arid aggressive entrepreneurs who will establish businesses that will thrive in Rwanda and grow to become multinationals, active in East Africa, Africa and the rest of the world, Since its creation, CBE has quickly grown in number of programs, students and staff.
