GBSN November/December eNewsletter: The Role Business Schools Play in Furthering Development
Greetings from Guy
Guy PfeffermannHappy birthday Lagos Business School! I feel deeply honored to have had the opportunity to address your community on this joyful occasion. Dean Okenedo asked me to touch on issues surrounding “Management Education in 21st Century Africa: Building People and Growing Businesses.”

My talk consisted of two parts; first, what I call the “outside-in” perspective and second the “inside-out” perspective. Quality business education has an inherent development impact. But this can be greatly enhanced by deliberate strategies. Focusing on the societal impact of a business school is what I call the “inside-out” perspective. There is yet another role that a good business school can play, which contributes to development and that is to become more engaged in the public policy arena.
